I offer Labor Support Services and Postpartum Doula Care to both the mother and partner based on respect, compassion and support. My goal and mission as a Birth Doula is to offer assistance to the mother and partner during the prenatal time to create a birth plan and help to educate and give information around childbirth. I then guide parents through a labor and delivery that reflects the mother’s wishes and concerns. As a Postpartum Doula I provide quality personal postpartum care as needed by the new mother and her family. It is my honor to be a part of your birth journey and privileged to be integrated into your postpartum experience. I completed my Labor Support Course Training as a Birth Doula and Postpartum Doulafrom The Seattle Midwifery School in 2006. Soon thereafter I began my own doula service based here in the Seattle area and have worked with numerous families. I have worked alongside midwives, doulas and obstetricians in both Central and South America learning different childbirth methods and forms in medical and rural settings. As a Birth Doula, I accompany women during labor to help ensure a safe and satisfying birth experience. My intention is to be supportive of any and all birthing methods and interventions or lack thereof that the mother chooses. I have witnessed births at hospitals, homes, and birth centers. I will be present during your entire birth always offering reassurance and help when needed, complementing the support team the mother already has in place. I can provide perspective, make suggestions for labor progress, and help with relaxation, massage, yoga, aromatherapy, positioning and other techniques for comfort. As a Postparum Doula, I offer advice and assistance about breastfeeding, bathing, and comfort measures for the newborn, sibling care, information about physical and emotional changes of mother and family during postpartum period, and general household duties and management. I focus on encouragement and helping the family make a smooth transition into becoming parents. I love to cook and would be happy to assist in meal preparation and offer nutritional guidance if desired. My training and background include: BA/BS in Sociology, Politics, and Latin American Studies from Brandeis University in Boston, MA.; Certified Labor Support and Postpartum Doula Training; Certified Infant/Child/Adult CPR; member of DONA International and NAPS, Certified Hatha Yoga Fitness Instructor (specialize in prenatal and postnatal classes, children and Vinyasa flow classes). Other joys in my life include making and designing jewelry art, spending time with my family, friends and partner, dancing, hiking, and reading. I look forward to hearing from you.
